Although there's a wide range of opinions, BUGS isn't radical; student politics pumps the issues rather than pimping the parties.  BUGS is better at its services than its banner bolstering - the Guild is gilded by some golden facilities and employs over 300 staff.  Back in the 1930s, the Guild Building was the 1st purpose-built SU in England and is still one of the best.[EITAL][HDNG]SU FACILITIES:[EHDNG][PARA]The Guild building provides 4 bars, cafeterias, sandwich bar, general shop, travel agency, photo shop, print shop, opticians, hairdressers, a greengrocers, Endsleigh Insurance office, car and bus hire, meeting rooms, debating chamber, customised club venue, banks, video hire, juke box, vending and games machines.[HDNG]CLUBS (NON SPORTING):[EHDNG][PARA]Amnesty International; Anti-Racist; Ballroom Dancing; Black Lodge (films); Boardgames; BodSoc (kids' TV); Change Ringers; Chinese Christian; Egyptian; European; Freak Bros (hippy); Hellenic; Hispanic; Jazz; Lloyds and Midland boycott; Malaysian Students; Mornington Crescent ([ITAL]obscure[EITAL] parlour game); Mountain Bike; Musical Healing; Navigators; Oriental Arts; Pagan; Peace; Pro-life; Radio; RCS; Role-Playing; Sci-Fi; Scout and Guide; Sikh; Stratford; 300 Group (women's representation); Third World First; Tibet Support; Treasure Trappers; Turkish; Wargames; Zarquon (Hitch-hiker's Guide obsessives).[HDNG]OTHER ORGANISATIONS:[EHDNG][PARA]The free student magazine 'Redbrick' is [ITAL]unusual and quite professional.[EITAL]  'Bugs' is the Guild's info-sheet.  There's a student closed circuit TV network on campus run by the Guild.  The Rag raised an [ITAL]impressive [EITAL]£49,300 for charity last year and the community action group is [ITAL]very active[EITAL] and has a permanent full time staff member.[HDNG]RELIGIOUS:[EHDNG][PARA]The University's St Francis Hall is a multi-denominational religious centre which the various Christian and other chaplains use as a base.  Birmingham itself is a multi-cultural city and so not only has cathedrals and churches of all types, but also mosques, temples and synagogues.[HDNG]PAID WORK:[EHDNG][PARA]The Guild's the best bet for a fuller pocket, employing over 300 students on a casual basis at any one time[ITAL].[EITAL][PARA][PARA]
