Flemington, home of the Melbourne Cup, is the headquarters of the Victoria Racing Club. The course has a circumference of 2,314 metres with a home straight of 453 metres for all races longer than 1200m. The most noteable feature of the course is a long chute which is an extension of the home straight. This gives horses in races up to 1200m a completely straight run to the winning post.
