This would be helpful if you wish to have them search their extensive family group sheet collection that is not available anywhere else. I got alot of great information there. It would be worth it. For one hours fee, if you ask them to just research there several families, I'm sure you would gain a lot. They do have a Guide to the Collections to assist you to identify records to search for $10.00. I believe they will search vital records in Westchester Co. for free. Call or mail a request for forms that you will need to fill out for the searches and buy the guide first. I believe there is also a charge of .50 cents per page of photocopies and $4.00 per map. With all this expense, it seems as if it would be cheaper to fly out there yourself, but they do have alot of information. In addition to the Archives, There is the Westchester County Historical Society located in the same building at Westchester County Historical Society 2199 Saw Mill River Road Elmsford, NY 10523 (914) 592-4323 They also charge $30.00 to search the following Census and Tax list indexes and they also require a form. But I don't think they charge for photocopies. Westchester (town) and Eastchester censuses, 1673, 1675, 1683, 1698 Mamaroneck, Morrisania, and New Rochelle, 1698 Oath of Allegiance, Westchester (town), Eastchester, New Rochelle, Mamaroneck, and Lower Yonkers, 1698 Bedford, New Rochelle, Eastchester 1710 Slaveholders, 1755 Freeholders, 1763 New Rochelle, 1767, 1771 Philipsburg Manor rent roll, 1776-1784 Tax list 1779 Federal Census for Westchester County, 1790-1840.
