07.02.99 - Kucharski in Warsaw !
Cezary Kucharski, who was supposed to move to Wisla, went back to Warsaw. Board of Legia
Warsaw said that Kucharski signed a new contract with their club.
04.02.99 - IFFHS Ranking
In the latest IFFHS ranking Wisla is placed on 52nd place (previous - 55th), so Wisla made
three places progress. On the top of the ranking is Inter Milan, before brazilian Vasco da Gama Rio de Janeiro.
03.02.99 - Wisla players in national team
In today's international friendly match between Malta and Poland, ended 1:0 for Poland (Klos '90)
played two Wisla players. Kazimierz Wegrzyn joined the game on 46 minute, and Ryszard
Czerwiec entered on 77 min. - it was his 25th cap.
31.01.99 - Victory
Wisla beat second league Unia Tarnow 3:0. Scorers: new Wisla attacker Olgierd Moskalewicz,
Cezary Kucharski, who is training with Wisla, and Krzysztof Bukalski from penalty kick.
29.01.99 - Kucharski will join Wisla ?
On grouping in Sraszecin appeard new player - 26 year old Cezary Kucharski. Cezary in this
season played for Legia Warsaw, he was loaned from Sporting Gijon. He used to be Polish
national player (13 caps, 4 goals). In 97/98 season he moved from Legia to Sporting Gijon, where
he couldn't find place in first eleven - he played only 12 matches, and scored 2 goals.
Next season he joined Legia again, but he still couldn't find his form, so he didn't score any goals.
28.01.99 - No more tests !
Franiczek Smuda sent home two croatian players - they were just to poor to play for Wisla.
Nnorom and Plewa are still training with the team, but it's hard to say if they
will stay.
Wisla is looking for good players, not only Polish, as Franiczek Smuda said Wisla is able to
buy foreigner player who is known for many football fans. He aslo is tired with testing every
player that wants to play in our club.
22.01.99 - Wisla players in national team
Polish national team coach Janusz Wojcik called two Wisla players for grouping on Malta: Ryszard
Czerwiec, who has played 24 matches in national team, and Kazimierz Wegrzyn (19 caps).
Poland is going to play there three friendly matches, aggainst: Malta (03.02), Hiberians la Valetta (06.02)
and Finland (10.02)
Wisla second goalkeeper - Jakub Wierzchowski, has been called to olimpic team.
21.01.99 - Wisla second in Schwerin
Wisla was second in indoor soccer tournament in Schwerin. In group stage Wisla draw with Werder
Bremen 1:1 (goal: Paluch), and beat VfL Bochum 2:0 (Wegrzyn, M.Zajac).
In the semi-final Wisla beat Vfl Wolfsburg 5:1 (B.Zajac, Paluch, Czerwiec, Bukalski, Moskalewicz),
and in the final lost aggainst host team Eintracht Schwerin 1:2 (Moskalewicz).
Werder Bremen came third, and Vfl Wolfsburg was fourth.
It was last tournament in Deutchland, today (21.01) Wisla is moving to Straszecin.
19.01.99 - Third place in Hannover
Wisla came 3rd in indoor tournament which took place in Hannover. In group stage Wisla was
deafeted by Arminia Hannover (3rd league) 1:2 (goal: Czerwiec). Later Wisla beat
Arminia Bielefeld (2nd league) 3:0 (Czerwiec, M.Zajac, Wegrzyn), and TSV Havelse 2:1 (Czerwiec,
Wegrzyn). Wisla took second place in their group, so winning last match with Hannover 96 after
penalties (4:3) finally gave them third place.
13.01.99 - Victory in Magdeburg
Wisla won in indoor soccer tournament in Magdeburg. In their group Wisla draw 3:3 with Hertha
Berlin (goals: Moskalewicz 2, Nicinski) and Broendby Kopenhaga (Nicnski 3),
and won with Wolfsburg 3:1 (Wegrzyn, Czerwiec, Kulawik. In the final Wisla beat Slavia Praga 3:0
(M. Zajac, Frankowski, Kulawik). Grzegorz Nicinski with his 5 goals was named the top scorer.
11.01.99 - Wisla second in Chorzow
Wisla was second in indoor soccer tournament in Chorzow. In group stage Wisla won 5:3 with Odra
Wodzislaw, and 5:1 with Gornik Zabrze. In the final Ruch Chorzow won 9:6 - after a very good,
and dramatical game. Until this tournament Olgierd Moskalewicz scored his first goal for his new
club.
07.01.99 - New Wisla's players
Wisla has bought two young players:
Slawomir Paluch - 23 years old attacker (178 cm, 73 kg), 2 caps in national team. Paluch
has played in U-18 and U-21 national team. He is very talented player, but in my opinion he still
doesn't play as good as he realy can, so maybe in better team he will show all his good points.
Krzysztof Smolinski - 19 year old defender. He is almoust unknown player in polish league.
Even in such poor team as Odra he was only substitiute.
Franciszek Smuda claim that this two players are very talented, and he wanted to "have" them
for a few months.
19.12.98 - Moskalewicz in Wisla !
Wisla bought from Pogon 24 year old attacker Olgierd Moskalewicz. It is second player from Pogon
who will play in Wisla, becouse before the spring round 1998 Wisla had bought Grzegorz Nicinski.
Moskalewicz is a left foot player, for many years he used to be the best Pogon player, and the
captain of the team. In current season with his 6 goals he is the best Pogon scorer.
Olgierd's contract is 5 years long, he costed 1.250.000 zl.
19.12.98 - Frankowski !
Tomasz Frankowski was awarded with the Biggest Revelation title. The Player of the Year title was
taken by Miroslaw Trzeciak, and the Trainer of the Year is Janusz Wojcik.
14.12.98 - Kuzba and Kryszalowicz in Wisla ?
It's very possible that this two forward players will play for Wisla in spring round.
21 years old Kuzba is now worth less then 1.3 mln $(it's the price that Auxerre paid Gornik Zabrze).
Kryszalowicz would move from Amica to Wisla for about 1.5 mln DM. Both of them told that they would
like to play for Wisla.
13.12.98 - Kulawik nominated
Tomasz Kulawik is nominated by "Pilka Nozna" to the Player of the Year title. His competitors are:
Jerzy Brzeczek (captain of national team), Sylwester Czereszewski (Legia Warsaw, current polish
national player), Piotr Nowak (Chicago Fire, former national captain, one of the best MLS player) and Miroslaw Trzeciak
(current national attacker).
Franciszek Smuda is nominated to the Trainer of the Year title, and Tomasz Frankowski to the
Biggest Revelation of the Year title.
13.12.98 - Kulawik on the top !
Tomasz Kulawik who scored 8 goals in UEFA Cup games is placed on 1st place. He shares this position
with Serhij Rebrow from Dinamo Kiev (Champions League), and Sean Bartlett from FC Zurich (UEFA Cup).

In the latest IFFHS ranking Wisla is on 48th place, so It noticed first downfall for many months
(from place 42). Italian Inter Milan is placed on first placed, second is Vasco da Gama Rio de Janeiro.
