WOMEN'S COLLECTION SPRING
SUMMER 1999
COLOUR VICE
Innate,
deeply-rooted, loved, invented, contrasted, underlined, shaded rhythmical,
sophisticated, private, Missoni Colour is both vice end applied art especially
when... ôStripedö.
Running
up and down its chromatic graphic scale, one has the feeling of meeting
up with Sonia Deleunay, Gerrit Rietveld, the Bauhaus Artists and Peter
Blake, Richard Hamilton, Jim Dine, Frank Stella, Daniel Buren.
AndàOttavio
Missoni. Art, moment by moment is defined as isometric, simultaneous,
dynamic, kinetic, pop...
New Missoni
Striped-coloured ômanifestoö foresees a vertical silhouette, horizontal
stripes and the Installation of a thick toile underskirt that structures
line and emphasizes deconstructed volumes.
Intervention
of radical yams pilots Colour. Surfaces are textured and tactile as a grainy
painted wall, with the full tones of Burano house facades accented by an
acrylic palette. A reassuring Language made of many handicraft and artistic
techniques counters the paradox of modern definitions. Some knit notes:
Colour
blocks and vertical geometric dresses, in rustic linen.
Stripes
and ôribbon". Tucked gauffrè and wide open stripes.
Dropped
ribs. Artistic workmanship "accidentsö. Bands.
Straw-lace
design, sampler of dentelle-stitches. Basket techniques. Viscose and linen.
Stocking
stich. Oversize net. Nostalgia for primary knitting, hand-made. Also applied
to bathing suits.
ôPlacedö
stripes. Subtle contrast of fabric pieces.
T-shirt
and flame-stitch. Basic pieces, ôflame-stichö bands.
Double
stripes and suede with olographic print. Reversible lines, drooping, with
different outside-inside effects.
Iridescent
Lamè. Mixed techniques. Underskirts of rustling taffetas.
Reference
"Points. The suppleness, the generosity of ôplasticö effects, cowl neck,
back-less, ôrobeö beach-city, cape. Naturally oversized ôloose" pullovers.
Athletic
look of tank tops and turn of the century, masculine bathing suits.
Basics
with new proportions, shortened trousers.
The sophisticated
nonchalance of evening renders daytime textures even more precious. And
shades get more languorous: the vice of Colours awaits dawnà
