  Un-did one of the 'fixes' from 2.11 that was causing some problems, making the fix more specific
    to certain programs.  If this makes problems come back that were fixed in v2.11, see our web
    site's "known problem list" for details on how to solve it by adding more programs to the list
    of special cases.
