You must enter at least 5 characters in the name and country string gadgets.
If your country or name has less than 5 characters, use the spacebar to make the total
in each gadget at least 5 characters.
Open the ImageIOLibraryPrefs application and select the option Allow decoding.
PhotoFolio can then transparently load images encoded by uu or base64 encodings (such as
images downloaded from an NNTP server).
You can use http://mafeking.scouts.org.au/photofolio or
http://go.to/photofolio.
It has been found that the xbm.datatype attempts to load some text files as xbm format.
This causes problems with the datatype support of PhotoFolio - PhotoFolio appears to hang
(in fact it is waiting for the datatype to return which it never does as the file is an
invalid xbm file). You can either disable datatype loading in ImageIOLibraryPrefs (not a
perfect solution) or you can disable the xbm.datatype by moving it from your Devs:Datatypes
to your Storage directory.

Once you have saved your proofs to disk, you should then load the proofs,
not the images. If you load the images again, PhotoFolio has to do all the
hard work of scaling etc again. However by selecting the proof directory,
PhotoFolio can load the proofs directly and it is lightning fast!!
The image of a proof is stored as a jpeg in the proof file. This means the
proof files can remain very small and don't take up much disk space.
However as a trade off to this, the jpeg has to be decoded before it can be
displayed. Decoding of jpegs is slow (unless you have a PPC card :-). If
you have your proof update setting set to a high number (say 70 - 100), it
will seem to take a long time to update the browse window, in reality it is
probably quicker than if it was set to a low number (say 5 - 10). The speed
is a trade off against proof size.
Style guide compliance indicates that you shouldn't be able to select files when
choosing a directory only. When working in directory mode, the ASL requester removes
the ability to see file entries. In our opinion, it is extremely useful to be able to see
the files within the directory you are choosing. We believe that the ASL requester
in the case of choosing a directory should show the files as ghosted entries. For
now we have enabled file entries and pick the directory name the user chooses.
