FLYERHDTOOLS TEST RESULTS, ANNOTATED: Prepared by Chuck Baker, NewTek Technical Support. The following are FlyerHDTools reports for some of the drives we have tested at NewTek, or for which reports have been submitted to the NewTek BBS. Your results for a particular make, model, and firmware may differ from these results. The inclusion of test results herein for a particular make and model does not constitute a recommendation of the drive for Flyer use, nor an endorsement of the drive or of a particular manufacturer's products by NewTek. --------------------------------------------------------------- THE IBM ALLEYCAT 2 Gigabyte Drive: Test Performed By: Todd Hayes Test Performed On: 19-Oct-95 10:12:32 Manufacturer/Model: IBM 0664M1H ! Revision: 7 70 Size: 3933039 Blocks (2.01 GB) READ WRITE ----------------- ------ ------ Lowest: 3.81 2.59 Average: 3.89 3.94 Idle Time ±20 ms: 0 ms 260 ms NOTE: A MegaByte is measured as 1,000,000 bytes to be compatible with drive manufacturer specifications. The last block that sustained 3.70 MB/s was 0 (0x0) This would allow 0.00 GB of this 2.01 GB drive (0.0%) to be used in this mode. TECH NOTE: some AlleyCat drives show a lower performance on the outer (lower-numbered) tracks, just the reverse of most hard drives. In this event, should you experience any problems with playing a clip located first on the drive, it is useful to record a dummy clip as the first clip on the drive, to prevent the space from being used by a clip you will actually use in a project. Thirty seconds is usually long enough for the dummy clip. To be sure of the length required, you could turn on the menu option for the long form report, which will identify long block address zone test results.
