Hey all you backpakies!!
I'm planning to do a bit of backpacking in Jan next year
which starts from Japan-S.Korea-most of SE Asian
countries.A month long adventure I hope with a budget of
S$3000. Any tips or anyone who thinks I'm crazy to travel
to so many places on such a small budget? Let me know of
worthwhile places to go or suggested itinerary that I can
follow.
Thanks a million!
Happy travelling!!

Japan and Korea are cold as hell in Jan. Do yourself a favor and start in Kyushu. Take the ferry to Okinawa and then onward to Taiwan. You can hit the mainland and go to Vietnam or Laoa from there. Or better yet, just start in Bangkok and skip NE Asia altogether - very expensive and not as interesting.
It's not your budget thats the worry, but your time limit of
one month. If you're hoping to see most of
south-east asia in this time, you'll be spending a lot of it
in and out of airports. I overlanded ( and over sea-ed)
Japan to Singapore in three months and that ended up being
quite a rushed trip. Even if you never stopped travelling
this would take more than one month.
If you cant extend your travel time, it might be better to
spend a week or so in a couple of places - otherwise you'll
just get exhausted.
Good luck fitting it all in!
How to hit the main land and go to Vietnam or Lao from
Taiwan? It's an island (Taiwan).
