O/W airfares for.....

Hey guys,
I'm trying to figure out airfares for the different legs of
my upcoming trip. Was wondering if anyone had any idea as
to the fares for the following o/w routes:
Chiang Mai - Yangon
Yangon - Saigon
Saigon - Bangkok
Saigon - Singapore
Funny but somehow I don't see any direct flights available
between Yangon and Saigon. Those of you who have gone this
route before, what's your advise. Buy tickets when I'm
there, at a travel agency or book before arriving? Which
airlines should I consider for the different legs? I've
heard too many troubling stories about Air Mandalay and the
other Burmese carrier.
Many thanks.

One thing I forgot to add is that the Asian Air Pass looks
rather attractive. 3 coupons for US$270 or 6 coupons for
US$540. Unfortunately, Burma is a non participant in this
program. Each coupon is good for each leg.
I'm flying into S.E. Asia on SIA and so the Pass is
    available as an option.
    Thanks.

there's no direct flight, you need to go through Bangkok.
i don't know what you have heard about Air Mandalay and, I
presume, Yangon Airways, but they are a reasonably good pair
of airlines. they are naughty in the monsoon as they don't
like flying with 90% empty planes and will cancel or
consolidate flights. Other than that they are a treat to
fly, using modern ATR 72's. the one to avoid like the plague
is Myanma Airlines which is an accident prone disaster area.
Myanmar International who fly BKK/KL/SGN/HK etc direct to
Yangon is run by MAS and again are OK. i hope this assists.
