Can anyone tell me what the departure tax is from BKK in both baht and us$.
Is it different for national and international flights?
Is there anything else that it might be useful to have $cash for??
Thanks

Hi! In Bangkok airport, there's only the departure tax for
leaving the country on the international flight. The tax is
500 Baht or about US$14 which you pay after you have
checked in and before you go through the immigration. The
vending machines for the tax are easily seen anyway. There
is no tax for the domestic flight.
The other things to have in cash might be for some street
foods, or budget hotels, hostels, guest houses,
transportation by train, by bus which usually they don't
take credit card. Unless you have food in the restuarant,
shopping in the department store, or book the air tickets
via the agents then credit card is accepted.
Hope this is helpful. Welcome to Amazing Thailand!!!

For international it is 500 THB, but you cannot pay in USD
(bu the bank is opposite). If You stay just maximum 24 hrs.
between changing flicg=hts, it is free, but you must
process this BEFORE you go trhough customs/immigration when
leaving airport. TAX for domestic is actually 30 THB (less
1 USD), but always included in ticket-price, but BKK-AIR
charges special much higher AIRPORT-taxes for its own
airports at SAMUI and SUKHOTHAI
yeah
just came home & 500 is the tax beware if you fly to samui
its another 400 which is the cost from bangkok to samui
overland & water good trip
bangkok airways cost 3000 one way thai 1500 to surat thani
well worth the trip but we preferred ovvernight journey
Just got home from BKK, and we paid the airport tax with
USD, no ploblem
