in July I'll make a stopover in Singapore of 5 1/2 weeks. I
want to go to tailand to visit a friend.
* Does anybody know a cheap hotel for one night in
Singapore?
* What is the best and cheapest way to Tailand?

Hi, I think the cheapest way is to travel by train. But it
might take 2 days to arrive. I'm not quite sure whether
there's direct train from Singapore or not, but I'm sure
there's a train from Kuala Lumpur which you might need a
    connection.

Tes there is a direct train which I have taken. The train
changes en route if I remember in Penang(?). The times and
the pricing is innthe LP guide. Also u could take the bus to
BKK. This if I recall was cheaper but with much less
creature comforts. There are many el chepos in the LP guide
    for your stay overnight.
    Rgds, NG
