The good place to dive around the penninsular is only at the
East coast of Malaysia called Pulao (island) Redang. The
others are just normal. Don't ever try to dive on the west
coast of Malaysia like Langawi or Tengol, you will be very
    disappointed.

IT's true the East coast are the best. But Tioman, P Aur
and Dayang are great places too. You get to see sharks,
manta rays, xmas tree etcetc. Also P Sibu, P Perhentian.
As for taxis, altho the govt is trying to get them to use
the meter fare rate, there are stil those who charge for
the trip. Just beware that the price quoted could be for
passenger-sharing ie they can pick up passengers enroute to
    your final destination . .
    Hv fun!

are a really good place to dive, and have stunning beaches.
    L.D taxi's - BEWARE !!!! They try to rip you off a lot. I
got one from Penang to Kota Bharu, because the buses were
booked up for 1 week, and initially the bloke said it would
cost me 200 Ringitt. But the driver kept falling asleep
(worrying !!!) so he dropped me off at another place, and
got another taxi driver to drive me the rest of the way. He
ended up charging me another 50 Ringitt. My advice is: get
    a plane or a bus.

  6. Pulau Payar? Added by: provis
[Timestamp: Tue 25 May, 1:33 Tasmanian Standard Time]

Pulau Payar is the only place you can have fairly good
    diving in the monsoon months.
East coast Island Like Redang, Perhentian, Bidong, Tenggol,
Kapas, tioman, Aur, Pemangil, Sibu, Babi Besar and Tinggi.
The further out the Island from the Mainland coast, better
    diving expected.
    Have fun.
