Trekking stuff

I'm planning to go trekking in Northern Thailand around
June/August, and as I want to travel as light as possible,
I wasn't planning on taking a sleeping bag - just a sleep
sheet. Should this be a problem in more remote areas - I
really don't know what to expect?
I was also wondering if wearing a pair of light-weight
walking shoe/trainers would be sufficient, or would light
weight walking boots be more advisable. I'm not expecting
to be trekking for very long lengths of time - maybe just
up to a week.
Thanks in advance for any advise...

Whatever kind of shoes you wear, make sure they're sturdy
(not cheap walkers), and that they can dry out easily.
Hiking boots not necessary in my opinion, these trails are
so well trodden. It can rain heavily for short periods of
time during the afternoon, this is why you want something
that can dry out fairly quickly. Sport sandals work great
on treks - especially if it includes rafting, may want to
pack the cross-trainers as well just as a back-up or for
something more comfortable if you're going for a week. My
trek was only 2 days, and the tribe had enough blankets to
sleep on/under. It can get a little chilly at night, so I
don't know how much help a light sheet would be anyways.
