My boyfriend and I are travelling from New Zealand to
Singapore bound for Thailand end of August and are not sure
wheather to take the train from Singapore up through to
Chang Mai and fly back to Singapore or fly to Chang Mai
first then train back down to Singapore.
Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. We have
one month - then onto India for a month.
Thanks

for flights are always cheaper when purchased in Malaysia
    vs. Singapore.

My advice is to train up and fly down . It depends again on
your time and budget. but if it is your first time trip, train vogage
gives you more leisure time to take in the scenery and you may
want to get off at some destination along the way or mark them
for future trips. With all the traveling you're going to do in
Thailand, the train trip back to Singapore would be really
exhausting and you may not enjoy it as much as otherwise.
If you want to break your journey, get off at Pattalung. This
sleepy Thai town is least visited and offers quite a few
unharrased sightseeing experience for travellers who don't
    always go by "the Book'!
