Camping in S.E. Asia

I travelled extensively throughout Central America last
winter and found a number of places to pitch my tent. From
exotic beaches to roadside one night stopovers I never had
any problems. Is camping permitted in S.E. Asia. Can I
camp along any of the beaches?

   camping up in the mountains away from civilisation.)
