ALL ASIA PASS, anyone?

Has anyone used the Cathay Pacific All-Asia Pass? It
allows you to travel from USA to SEA for up to 31 days
unlimited travel through 16 cities for $999. I'm leaving
in late June, early July. I understand you have to plan
out the entire itinerary ahead of time, and I'm in the
process of doing so, however you must travel through Hong
Kong almost every leg of the way. Anybody done this?
Thanks in advance!

Just booked it yesterday, it's a great deal. and NO you do
not have to always return to HK. You have a couple of
options. For those portions where Cathy flies direct, you
can do that. For example, I am flying direct between
Bangkok and Singapore, and from Taipei to Tokyo. For
other's you must return to HK, but the flights are short,
for example Singapore back to HK and then to Seoul is done
in one day, from 8:05 to 20:20, with a two hour wait at the
HK airport. The other option is to fly into one city and
fly out of the other, you are responsible for getting
yourself from one to the other. HOWEVER, you do have to
book everything in advance, some countries prefer that you
have an outgoing ticket upon arrival. DO NOT FORGET to sign
yourself up as a CYBER-TRAVELLER, you get an additional
$150 off (Canadian rates, the pass is $1599 for us). Good
    luck and happy travels.

A Chicago Tribune reporter did this in the Fall and posted
his report at the following site.

    e/asia5.htm
I found it interesting reading since I am considering this
    also.

Yes, I did the flights for 45 days last summer. Went to
Cebu, Manila, Bangkok, Hong Kong and Taipei. Was a great
deal and yes you do get to know HK airport really really
well. I was there 8 times. ( i think) With HK the major
center for asia flights it really is not a problem for most
cases. Ie hong kong is midway to everything. Flying from
Manila, Philippines to Cebu, Philippines via HK got us a
few wierd looks by airport personnel. Other tha that no
    problems
Cathy Pacific is great. Good food and great
    entertainment. Well worth it!
    Best of luck

I flew them from NY to Vancouver to Hong Kong to Bangkok
and back last November. Everything about the airline worked
wonderfully. From the meals, to the scheduling, and the
    gracious service on board.
Flying from Hong Kong to Vancouver on the return trip, my
audio console wasn't working, so they moved me to business
    class.
The ticketing and reservation people were very able too. I
heartily recommend Cathay-Pacific. In fact, I already have
a ticket to return to Hong Kong for this coming November.

  7. Chicago Tribune Articles Added by: Bugs
[Timestamp: Tue 11 May, 6:29 Tasmanian Standard Time]

It links more than 10 articles for the reporter's asia trip.
    http://cgi.chicago.tribune.com/travel/dest/hard/asia/asiasal
    e/asia5.htm
Make sure you copy the whole link. If you copy and paste,
usually you only get the first line like this---
    http://cgi.chicago.tribune.com/travel/dest/hard/asia/asiasal
Then you have to type in the rest "e/asia5.htm"
