Where to get Larium in Bangkok?

This topic was created by Steve

I heard or read somewhere that Larium is readily available
in Thailand. I'm in Korea where getting it is a hassle and
expensive. Where can I go to get some for my girlfriend and
I when we arrive in Bangkok? (I have made my decision to
take Larium. Folks with stories of hairloss and insanity
need not post, I've heard it all.)
Thanks.

Friends who've come to Bangkok and bought larium have been
able to get it from any pharmacy. Much cheaper than o/s as
    well.

You should do a little more research. I'm not getting into the pros and cons of taking an anti-malarial medication, but although Larium is recommended as the most effective for many places, Doxy is the drug recommended for the strains of the disease found in Thailand. Check out the fooicial web sites eg cdc.gov etc.
    Best of luck.

Doxy is first choice for malaria strains along the Thai-
Burmese and Thai-Cambodian border, NOT for the rest of
    Thailand.

However, the question in Thailand is whether you really
need profylaxis or not. If you go in the dry season and you
stick to the main tourist trail, then don't take it.
Otherwise, Lariam is indeed first choice (except for the
border regions mentionned above on condition you do serious
trekking for more then 10 days there).

I did find Lariam in 1 pharmacy in Chiang Mai (I checked
2). I didn't find it in 2 pharmacies in BKK, but I do think
you can get it if you look hard enough, but it's not in
    EVERY pharmacy, that's for sure.
