A friend and I will be travelling to Thailand this July and
are pretty keen to go trekking in north Thailand. We plan
to be in Chiang MAi for a while anyway but I have heard
plenty people slating treks from there. Is it worth taking
something from CM or going soemwhere else nearby?
Your thoughts anyone?
Ta
Ross

    Hi Ross,
    Chiang mai eh.. well
i'm just back 2 days from there.
I stayed in Chiang mai in wanasit guesthouse and
rented a motorbike to get out of town.
you could drive up to Pai area for nice trekking.

    Happy travels,

Go to the Libra Guesthouse in Chiang Mai (they are in the
LP). Not only is it a decent place with nice rooms and
bathroom with hot water for 150 B, but they do great, 3 or
4 day treks in out-of-the-way places and they're good
value. They provided the mini-rucksacks, sleeping bags and
food etc and we didn't see any other tourists the whole
time. Great. (No, I don't work for them!).
