Can anybody recommend a decent Trekking Company in Chiang
Mai?
I am arriving in Chiang Mai on Saturday and only have about
six days before heading south .
I know that there are loads of trekking companies in Chiang
Mai: some good, some not so good.
Any tips or pointers would be much appreciated. like cost
or the best areas to trek.

Galare Hotel in the LP book have a guide that does very very good tours although they are expensive at รบ50 a head but it includes everything and better still you get to see no other tourises for the whole 3 days and 2 nights. This price also includes rafting and elephant riding. There are lots of other companies a lot cheaper but this one was certainly worth the money. He does various trips around Mae Hong Song, Pai and the Burmese border and for various lengths.

Maxime, could you give me a detailed report of your
trekking by e-mail, so I can include it on my website.

We just came back from a trekk with Galare and it is
excellent. We did the trekking around Pai, and rafting and
elephant riding in Mae Hong Song.
We stayed with a very friendly Karen-family, and it is
correct, we did not se any other tourists at all.
The guide has great knowledge and will tell you alot.
Galare may seem more expensive than others, but if you make
a comparison with what is really included, it is not that
much more expensive, and you are sure you get what you pay
    for.
