Can anyone recommend places to celebrate New Years Eve
2000 in Vietnam. Altenatively, if it is not celebrated
there could you please tell me.
Thanks.

Wasn't there but apparently the Kiwi embassy in Hanoi had a
ripper of a New Years Eve party for Kiwi travellers and
friends this year. If you're not a Kiwi it may be worth
while to befriend one around this time and go.

One tip on where NOT to be at midnight: in a Vietnam
Airlines domestic flight. None of the airport systems are
    Y2K compliant! Seriously though try:
    - Tam Tam Cafe in Hoi An
    - Nha Trang Sailing Club in Nha Trang
    - Apocalypse Now Bar in Saigon
    - DMZ bar in Hue
    - Spotted Cow bar in Hanoi
Any of these should be "going off" (and are Y2K compliant).
