firstly, the best way to get to the galapagos islands is to
fly. flights cost between $300-374, depending on season and
whether you fly from guayaquil or quito. also, say you
booked a 5-day boat tour, that would be another $300-400+
at least, again depending on the season. add other little
expenses, it does add up, unfortunately. if you were to go,
it's worth going for at least a week, to make the most of
it. so, not cheap....but like nowhere else!
I was just there two weeks ago. $324 to $350 flight. $100
park entry fee. Do at least a wekk long cruise to make it
worth your while otherwise you will just scrape the surface.
You can get a tourist class cruise for about $500. It is
well worth it and you will never regret spending the money.
D. Carr is right on. Aitfare from Quito is $324 in low season, plus $100 park entry fee, plus cruise cost at $450-500. Better to
book cruise in Quito. The agencies drop the fares at the last moment to try and fill the cabins. There are hundreds of agencies
everywhere in Quito; I used Angermeyer Enchanted, but there are many.
If you stay at the Villa Nancy while in Quito, they'll help you find the lowest reputable operator. Nancy and Vesa charge $15
per nite in their B&B, but that includes breafast and airport pickup. Their email address is: npelaez@ecnet.ec Happy travels.
I agree with everybody that it┤s really expensive to go to the Galapagos. I paid about 900 $ for 5 days cruise including plane tickets and the entrance fee. I still think it was worth it, cause Galapagos is the most beuatiful place I┤ve ever been!
