Besides wanting to teach in S. America, I'd love to travel
through there...any ideas?? I'm hesitant about going it
alone.

When are you planning to go I too dont want to travel alone so have been waiting to plan my trip. I can leave anytime in the next few months.I have a friend who is teaching in Quito, Equador she has been there for three years and really enjoys it. E-mail back who knows maby we can set off together and if I drive you crazy we'll split or vice-versa but it's always nice to start with another traveller. I am 32 male from Colorado, USA and have travelled most of the last four years. I already bought the LP south america book so I must use it before it's out of date.

    Greetings,
I spent seven months traveling SA alone...at the time I was
in my late twenties. It was wonderful! I would recommend
that if you do not speak Spanish, spend a few weeks in a
town where you can take one-on-one classes to learn the
basics. That way, you will be empowered to navigate your
way through. The people are warm and lovely. Expect only
good things to happen and nothing bad will come to you.
    Enjoy,
    Michele
