Has anyone travelled round South America on Motor bikes? If
so were did you go? did you hire the bikes or buy and sell
them? How much does hiring them cost? Any answers or any
other info would be much appreciated.
Cheers
Ben

  1. Not Harleys, but BMW... Added by: Cecilia (c_obertop@hotmail.com)

Check out a web site from a couple who are on the road with BMW's. I am not allowed by LP to include the name of a web site (apparently a new rule in the Tree????), so I'll try to describe the name of the web site. GGRLL not working either. Frustrating! What have those !-ers at LP done? Email me if you want the web address.
    .
I copied this from their web site:
    .
"After many months (a couple of years) of planning, Dave and Sharon Thompson set out from Champaign, IL, USA, 5 June 1997, on an around-the-world expedition on their BMW motorcycles (a 1981 R80G/S and a 1992 R100GS).
    .
Tentative plans were to first head down through Central and South America, then (sometime in early-to-mid 1998) fly or ship the bikes to South Africa, and travel up through Africa and across Europe, as far north as possible (Norway), maybe sometime about the middle of 1999. After that the plans get even more vague, but will involve heading east across Asia however seems like the best way to go at the time. Anticipated total time is anywhere from 2-3 years. "

Well, there you go, this is the site I was talking about. I was just trying again because I wanted to contact the web master or something about them suddenly now allowing any addresses anymore.
