Aruba?....what should I know?

I am planning a trip to Aruba in the next month for a week.
I'd really appreciate any tips or stories that some of you
experienced travelers might have about this tiny island.
What should I go and see? What should I avoid? How safe is
it? Is currency a problem locally?.....Your advice will be
appreciated.
Thank you,
Atomic-Style.

    Hi Atomic,
I live on Aruba. Have a look at www.aruba.com, you will
find lots of information there. Contact me should you wish
any specific info. Enjoy your trip!

    Hi,
Definitely check out the aruba.com website and make sure you
check out the bulletin board there. It's very active and
you'll find lots of info. If you post some questions
you'll surely get answers. There's also a trip report page
there with longer, more detailed trips described. Good
    luck.

My husband and I went to Aruba in October of last year. We
had a nice time. We stayed at the Sonesta Suites which is
in a good location because it is on the edge of Oranjestad
and you have some kitchen facilities which is nice. We
usually had breakfast in the room and at out at other
times. It's right next to restaurants, a movie theatre,
casinos, etc. The bad part is that its beach is a private
island which is okay, but not the best beach. Also is
noisy at some times of the day as is near the airport. I
would probably stay at the Amsterdam Manor if you are on a
budget. Really cute place and across the road from the
beach where they have lounge chairs. If you want the best
beach, go to Palm Beach. In general, it is an expensive
place. Not too scenic as it's pretty dry, but a nice place
to relax. Take a snorkel tour to the shipwrecks.
