there are a few shops in Puerta Ayora, but from my trip the
best by miles was Galapagos Sub Agua on Av Charles Darwin.
It is run by Fernando and is very professionally run. these
guys have trips running daily while the other agencies were
usually scrabbling for business and only running when full.
Fernando was always negociable on price and was giving up
to 50% off for subsequent dives if you come in at 6 the
night before and the boat isn't full. we spent 2 days
diving the sights on the north-east of Santa Cruz. Gordon
Rocks (considered the best), Seymour Island and Mosquera
Rock. in some conditions they are experienced sights, but
the conditions when we were there were great. Sharks, rays
and turtles and more fish than i've ever seen. it was
    seriously great!
as for accomodation, DON'T stay at hotel Lirio del Mar.
these guys are thieving, lying bastards and don't deserve
    your custom.
have a great stay, it's real beautiful. jim

  2. Sub Aqua boat problems Added by: D.Carr (joetourist@hotmail.com)

I just got back and Sub Aqua was having problems with their
boat and my dive day got cancelled. It's been that way for
some time. Maybe try and book when you get there to save the
hassle. Quite frankly we saw everything while snorkelling
during our boat cruise and weren't too sad about missing the
diving. Save the money and do a week-long cruise instead.
Bring your snorkel gear and a light wetsuit. We saw
hammerheads, swam with penguins, sea lions and iguanas just
snorkelling. The diving costs way too much there. Like I
say, save the money and do a better boat cruise. AT LEAST a
    week.

What can you tell us about Peru when it was hit by El Nino?
