Can anyone give me some guidance as to how long to takes to
organise a Jeep to Katmandu once in Lhasa and how much this
will cost? We will be there next month.

Sell your putrid white used and abused stretched cunt to the
Tibetans and you can get a free ride.

A few years ago it was very easy to arrange from any of the
backpacker hotels. The courtyard at the Yak Hotel was
filled with jeeps going to Kathmandu. The price depends on
where you want to stop along the way, but I recall something
like USD 400 total for the jeep for a one week trip.

I went on land from Kathmandu to Lhasa last November. I
assume that the route from Lhasa to Kath. should be the
same. Just an advice - the trip will be long and tedious
with very, very basic food and accommodation. Food will
cost a whole lot more along the way as compared to prices
in Lhasa. Pack non-perishable food from Lhasa. The ride
will be 5 days reaching maximum altitudes of 5300++
metres. watch it on the AMS (altitude sickness). Also
bring a good sleeping bag. The ride will be worth it.
Will learn and see much more of the tibetan culture along
the way than in Lhasa. Enjoy !

it will be cheaper to arrange your trip from shigatse. it
is easy and cheap to get thre from lhasa (8 hrs) and you can
take day trips from there to the nearby sites. i really
recommend gyantse for a day. be careful when you arrange
your trip as it is really easy to get cheated. don't pay
100% up front. there are no real guarantees as to schedule
or accomodations and you can expect to be hassled a couple
of times. shop around and take a look at the vehicle you
will be in before you pay your money, as they sometimes give
you a different, less reliable one. if you can avoid being
taken advantage of by the less honest operators you will
have a great trip with spectacular sights. make sure you
stop at everest base camp, it really is impressive. good
    luck
