GÆday fellow travelers!
My wife and I are beginning another tour and would
appreciate your opinions on any of the countries on our
itinerary that you may have visited.
This time we are taking 9 months to travel to Jordan,
Syria, Lebanon, Turkey (Eastern), Iran, Pakistan, India,
Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, Indonesia, Singapore,
Malaysia, Thailand, Myanmar, Laos, China, Kazakhstan,
Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Turkmenistan.
Any descriptions of places you have seen in these countries
or general travel tips would be greatly appreciated.
If YOU have any need for any information on North America,
Australasia, Cambodia, Vietnam, East Africa, Egypt or
Tunisia, I may be able to assist.
Many thanks,
Barge

Avoid going to China during the winter, if possible. The
air gets really polluted, since more coal is burned for
electricity and heat.
Hello, Your trip sounds ambitious. However, I was just
wondering if perhaps you are traveling to too many different
places in too short a perios of time? 21 different
countries in 9 months? Perhaps you might consider more time
in fewer places. This is just a suggestion and I look
forward to reading how you came up with the above travel
plans. Safe travels.
Laos is great!
21 countries in 9 months. Sounds like a "it must be
Wednesday because we're in Singapore" trip. Have a great
time. My bet is you only do a third of these places in the
9 months. You'll end finding a place you really love and
not want to move which will totally screw the timetable.
Unless of course this is more about stamps in passport than
actually wanting to see and experience a country.
I also agree with #3. Laos is fab but you definitely need
more than a couple of days to see the place. It may sound
like it in the LP that you can do a day trip to Vang Vieng
from Vientiene but this is definitely not the case. Laos is
very unpredictable in terms of transportation. But well
worth the effort.
Take some time to explore Vietnam. Beautiful architecture
in Hanoi, nice beaches, interesting hill tribes. Very much
a traveller dream country since the tourist industry is
developed enough to make life pleasant but not so much
to "spoil" your experience. In Hanoi you can stay at a
small family run hotel on a narrow street above a bakery.
The vietnamese food is nice with some french influence
thrown in.
