Hello!
IÆll fly to Beijing and one month later (after visiting a
friend in Shanghai) IÆll fly back to Europe from Shanghai.
What is the æperfect itineraryÆ; IÆd like to visit the
minorities in the southwest (Dali etc.) αnd see the main
highlights (XiÆan, etc). Can anybody give me some ideas?
If not, where can I find valuable info about possible
routes?

China, give yourself an idea of what there is. Decide what your preferences are, do some planning then try asking more specific questions and I'm sure people will try to help.
However, if you decided to see Beijing, Shanghai, Dali and Xian, travelling overland, you may have your hands full already.
