4 to 5 days isn't much. Highlights for 4 to 5 days: Go to
Lake Louise and take the Trail called "Plain of the 6
Glaciers" to the end; Go to Moraine Lake and take the Trail
called "Larch Valley and Sentinel Pass" (18 km), and go to
the top for great views. Go to Yoho National Park only 16
km. from Lake Louise and go to the Takakkaw Waterfall, one
of the highest in Canada. If you are energetic take the 18
km "Iceline Trail" which starts near the waterfall -- its
magnificent. Go to Emerald Lake in Yoho and hike around the
lake -- flat and easy hike. Hike up to Hamilton Lake in
Yoho -- it starts near Emerald Lake. Drive the Icefield
Parkway between Lake Louise and Jasper. Hike "Parker's
Ridge" only 1 hour up and 1/2 hour back for great views.
It's near the Icefield Center where there are exhibits and
you can pay for the bus tour onto the Athabasca Glacier if
you want. Go to Mt. Edith Cavell (hostel there), and do the
Loop trail in about 4 hours. Very beautiful area. Go to
one of the 3 commercial hot springs to relax your muscles in
either Jasper, Banff, or Kootenay Parks. Spend a few hours
in Banff and go to the Banff Springs Hotel to look around at
this magnificent old hotel. Take a raft trip on the Kicking
Horse River if you have extra time. There are so many other
things to do, but you can't go wrong with this itinerary.
