Has anyone heard of or visited an airplane graveyard
somewhere near Tucson (or somewhere not even close to
Tucson)?
Is it worth seeing?
Thanks

I've seen pics of this place near Tuscon and it looks
amazingly weird. I guess if you are fascinated by weird
places and/or love planes, this is the place to go. Let me
know if you ever end up going there... or pass by etc..

i was in tucson one summer, riding around (half drunk ) with
a friend and we got lost and ended up out at the plane
graveyard. it was pretty spooky at night cause all the
wings of the planes hang over the road at one spot. but i
thought it was so neat i asked my parents to take me back
the next day, and i'm not even a fanatic about planes,
though i do think they're interesting. they have a museum
there, too, i believe, but it is just neat to look at all
the old dilapidated shells of airplanes, both commercial and
military. if you're in tucson, definitely worth a couple
hours if you're into things like that.

I think I heard that it was in some part of Death Valley.
Tha amazing thing about this place is that the dry heat
preserves the aircraft remarkably well. Try asking people @
the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Assoc.

Yes, the Pima Air Museum is well worth the visit. LOTS of planes on display. There is also an airplane "graveyard" near there - fenced but interesting from the road. Pima Air Museum's address is listed in my 1996 Aircraft Museums book as 6000 E. Valencia Rd., Tucson. Phone (602) 574-0462.
