My friend and I are planning a trip to Turkey, Israel, and
Egypt begining in Oct, likely through Dec. I was wondering
what the climate is like during that time? Would the beaches
be reasonabley nice in Turkey in Oct? Has anyone else been
in these areas during those months?
Thank You!

Oct is best time of year to travel in Turkey. We've swam in
the Med (southern coast) as late as 20th of October and been
comfortable. Aegean would be too cool for us then. The
days will still be warm but the nights pleasantly cool.
Israel should still be hot in October, and you can swim
in the Med into November...though if you're a Canadian like
me who's used to cold water even in summer then you might be
able to keep going even longer. It's starts raining in
Israel around the end of October, but it's still reasonably
warm for a while longer. Egypt will be perfect in December
(that's if you're doing Egypt last), kind of warm but not
flaming.
I've been to Egypt in November and also again in Jan/Feb and it is the best time of year. It is their winter, which although it is not cold during the day, it is quite pleasant. Nights up a mountian or in the desert can be very cold.
I was there (Turkey-Syria-Jordan-Syria-Lebanon) last year
from October 6th to November 22nd. The weather was
excellent. In almost two months I only had to open my
umbrella once for 15 minutes somewhere in Lebanese
mountains. Otherwise, highest daily temperatures were
always between 20 and 30 degrees, except in Eastern Turkey
where it was about +15 during the day and around zero in
the night (October 20th).
However, the locals offten said me that that autumn was
warmer as average autumns. Nevertheless, I think that
October and November are the best months to visit this part
of the world.

Thank you very much! This information has been very helpful
and reassuring!
Hi Amy,
October is a good month to travel in Turkey for various
reasons. First we still have a warm weather in that month.
It is less crowded and prices are relatively lower than in
the summer. You would enjoy your trip much better in
October.
By the way I would suggest you to check out
www.lodgingturkey.com, it has some good info on
accommodation in Turkey.
If you have any further questions or if you need any more
info, you can drop me a line. I would be glad to give you
any tips and recommendations.
Best wishes from Istanbul,
Mehmet
