I'm going to be in Sinai, Egypt with my 1 year old and my
husband for New Years Eve '99. Do I need to worry about
diseases for her, she has some vaccinations, but not all.
Also, what about milk? I read in the egypt guidebook to be
careful about milk and she'll still be drinking it at this
point. We'll only be there for 8 days, and staying at a
resort, but is there anything I need to be attentive of?
Also, is climbing Mt. Sinai difficult with a sleeping baby?

Climbing Mt Sinai with a baby is not difficult (it is a well-worn track and not REAL long) but putting the kid in a baby-carrier/backpack would be advisable. Biggest hassle is side-stepping all the vendors selling Coke every 100m. Rent a camel to carry you to the top if you need to - they are available every so often along the track!
We have generally found while travelling that powdered milk is readily available everywhere.
Hello,
I live in Egypt. The milk here is fine, though it comes in
a box and does not have to be refridgerated before being
opened. Buy the Juhayna brand. It is the gov't brand and
it is safe. I would avoid "fresh" milk, as who knows what
is in it.
Also avoid giving your baby any of the water, except bottled
water.
As for vaccinations, I think Malaria is not a big deal in
Sinai. But definitely get the Typoid and Hepatitus vaccs.
(Only of course if they are suitable for babies). I am very
careful about what I eat and I did get Typhoid.
