I'm planning to go with my wife and my two kids (4 & 6 yrs
old) to Sri Lanka at the end of the year.
Has anybody any suggestion regarding places to visit,
hotels to go, activities. All strictly children-friendly.
Thanks

we took our kids and friends to Unawatuna down the south west coast last year .It was cheap as all hell and the bay there is like a shallow lagoon all day for snorkelling .Sundays it was packed with nationals though and very busy. Bungalows are cheap, kids snorkelled all day only down side was the service is incredibly slow (great food tho) so had to leave for meals half an hour before the cravings started .We took the train down there most of the way to the (forget the name )town with a fort all around it and then then tuk tuks rest of way (very cheap)
You must visit the elephant orphanage. The kids would love
it. I even got to help feed them their milk. Fantastic.
I agree with Nils, Unawatuna is a nice place to introduce
your kids to snorkelling. We stayed at Bruno┤s Flower Garden
Cabanas, where we could order our dinner in the morning and
so we didn┤t have to wait in the evening. And you should
visit the turtle hatchery. Our kids were allowed to take the
baby turtles out of the pool.We made a 1-week-circuit in a
minivan (we arranged that at Bruno┤s) to see Ella,Nuwara
Eliya (not much to see) and Kandy (there we had two
connected rooms in a very nice guesthouse close to the
jungle, where the monkeys ate our bananas on our terrace).
From Kandy we made day trips to Dambulla, Sigiriya and to
the Elephant orphanage. For details please mail. Have a nice
trip!!
