We are in the early stages of planning a one year trip with
our two children who will be 5 and 3 when we leave.
Current plans are to leave around May 2000. We would like
to "live" in about 12 (or fewer places) and find fully
furnished places with kitchens. We are very still very
flexible about destinations and would like suggestions on
places that people have really enjoyed with young children
on extended vacations. We would like to find smaller towns
and establish contacts with people in some of the places
before we go. We live in the U.S. and have travelled in
Canada and Mexico and before kids we lived in Italy and
Germany. We're looking for new adventures so info on the
rest of the big world would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hi, I am an Australian Travel Agent but don't worry, not
trying to sell you anything on purpose.
Might I suggest a few places? What about Norway with its
many ferry services servicing little towns by sea? A bit
cool but could be great for kids.
Coming down from there what about Thailand, or mainland
China (a bit hard to get info etc. but an educational mind
blower from lifestyle, history etc. also it can be VERY
    cheap)
You coiuld then head to Australia, your dollar travels very
well here and we have lots of great towns (not the cities,
which you would greatly enjoy - like Rutherglen in
Victoria's wine making area - also area our great Bushranger
Ned Kelly roamed). Try a town like Alice (sorry film pun)
but Alice Springs is a great town (hmm can be a smidge
expensive as food gets trucked in).
then you could try New Zealand 2 islands 2 different ways of
life and vista's - a land where there are no poisonous
animals or spiders or snakes to injure you.
Of course there are a plethora of South paficic Islands
like, Vanuatu, Fiji, Cook Islands, Tonga, Samoa, Solomons.
Sorry, I just LOVE travel and believe all governments shoul
dgive us one free RTW trip so we can experience LIFE and
    tolerance of each other.
Hope I have helped with at least one place.
