We're crazy enough to be considering a stopover in Hong Kong
in July with 3 young kids. Does anyone have any advice on
how to survive this financially & mentally ???? What things
and places are musts with kids ?

My husband and I lived in H.K. for 3 years and recently went
back on a 5 day stopover with our 2 year old daughter.
Things were made much easier for us as we stayed with
    friends on Lamma island.
First of all - book a hotel with a pool.July is Hong kong
at its muggiest! Dont try and do too much as you'll wither
away in the humidity. I don't know the agew of your kids but
I'd suggest taking them to any of the street markets(Wanchai
Market is good) and letting them observe chickens and frogs
being decapitated!!Definetly go to stanley market-it's worth
it just for the bus ride!!
Get a ferry to Lantau Island and take a bus to the big
Buddha. Plenty of airconditioned shopping malls- pacific
Place in Admiraly and Times Square in Causeway Bay. for
really good cheap clothes go to the ladies market in Fa Yuen
Street in Mongkok. If you have any inquiries drop me an
    email!

Hi Zivatad. WE have lived in HK for many years. We have a 7
year old boy. In July, as your other corespondent says it is
hot. For kids. OceanPark. WaterWorld. The Peak via the
Peak Tram and walk up to Mt. Austin. It is cooler up
there. Outlying Islands by ferry. Cycle on Cheung Chau.
Pigeon Restaurant on Lamma Island. Little beaches on Lamma
Island. Bus from Central(on HK island) to Stanley which has
a beach and /or Sheko beach. Great ride on the top deck of a
double decker bus to those destinations. Science Museum.
Often there are summer art and other cultural activities
especifically for kids. Look at the magazine 'H.K'. The
Tourist Information Bureau is good. Star Ferry across from
Kowloon to HK Island especially at twilight. Walk around the
restaurant and shopping areas at 10 at night when all the
families are out on the streets. etc. HK is a fantastic
    city.

you more but your e mail addresses don't appear.
