i rode from air india from seoul to hongkong... the plane
was old with everything rattling around, the food was
unidentifiable... but we landed safely and that's all that
    counts.

I flew london to delhi with AI last year and despite some
initial worry the service was excellent. No problem

I flew with Air India from Chennai to Goa, via Bangalore to
pick up more passengers, it was like a bus trip !! No
really the flight was great, bearing in mind 2 take offs and
2 landings, the food was OK and the staff were friendly,
    don't worry about it.

I flew with them from Kathmandu to Varanasi. The plane was
old, the food, as someone mentioned before, unidentifiable
(bar the chocolate cake, that was good)and the service a tad
on the indifferent side, but I felt safe enough, so I
wouldn't worry too much about it.

the internal flights are to be avoided with AI, the
international ones are ok. example: T.A. to Delhi was good,
Goa - Dehli was terrible (delay, food, service)
    bye

I flew AI internal and it was okay, they just could not
confirm if I was on the flight or not at the travel agents.
It was just a matter of turning up at the airport an hour
    before hand.
As I had to catch a connecting flight home that was a
    little bit of a worry.

I flew from singapore to delhi. It was packed. The toilets
were horrible within 15 min. of takeoff, with water splashed
all over the floor. Couple of people got into fight because
someone sat in somebody else's seat and refused to get up.
The pilot had to come in and reprimand the two. The service
was with an attitude, "we are doing you a favour by letting
you fly with us!!" People were standing in the aisle talking
to someone while the movie was going on and blocking view
without any concern for others. I would have chalked this
experience to a bad day, however on the way back it was
worse. I just decided to take my business elsewhere.

  9. what a bunch of retards Added by: Chuckles
[Timestamp: Wed 26 May, 0:43 Tasmanian Standard Time]

Re authors of posts #3, 4, 6, 7: read my lips:
    .
AIR INDIA DOES NOT HAVE ANY INTERNAL OR NEPAL FLIGHTS.
    .
AIR INDIA IS A LONG-HAUL-ONLY INTERNATIONAL AIRLINE.
    .
I know all Indians probably look alike to you, and all
Indian names sound the same, but the airline you are
referring to is Indian Airlines. You know, like the
difference between British Airways and Air UK, or the
difference between American Airlines and USAir.

I was about to say what chuckles said (but more politely),
and my experience with Air India was very positive 0 just
    like any other International carrier.

In the US, international and domestic carriers are not
necessarily differentiated. USAir is an international
carrier just like American Airlines and they fly domestic
as well. US Airways is smaller so serves less destinations.
So it is easy for someone to make a mistake if they don't
    live in that country.
By the way, Air India does fly some routes domestic like
Delhi - Bombay, Delhi - Madras, Bombay - Bangalore, etc.

of the 4 entries, the only one that is probably wrong is
    kathmandu to varanasi.
    guess who the retard is?

  13. AI domestic Added by: R. Kalia
[Timestamp: Wed 26 May, 9:40 Tasmanian Standard Time]

It's technically true that AI flies some domestic routes,
but it does so about once or twice a week between 12midnight
and 5am. They are called 'equipment repositioning flights',
made when a scheduled international flight starting point is
different from the jet's previous international flight
    ending point.
    .
So while it is conceivable that the posters above took these
    flights, it is extremely unlikely.

  14. Changing times Added by: Yarra
[Timestamp: Wed 26 May, 11:47 Tasmanian Standard Time]

I've flown Air India a couple of times and have no
complaints. It was on time, no mishaps occured and the
service and food was OK(Indian cuisine ain't to bad served
    airline style)
I've flown Indian Airlines half a dozen times and must say
things seemed to have improved no end in recent years. Maybe
it's the competition or that they no longer use the Russians
for training the cabin crew but the last few times it was
just fine. Much better than say US based carriers but not
quite up there yet with the premier SEA carriers.
At all costs though avoid Thai Airways.

  15. Why Thai ? Added by: Billy
[Timestamp: Wed 26 May, 12:12 Tasmanian Standard Time]

What was the problem with Thai Yarra ? I've used them on a
number of occassions over the years and always found them to
    be very good indeed.

  16. Yarra---good point about food Added by: R. Kalia
[Timestamp: Wed 26 May, 13:05 Tasmanian Standard Time]

Indian food works very well reheated. Unlike pasta---
Alitalia should be avoided just for that reason.
