  1. There you go... Added by: Connolly

The starting point for a trip to the Khyber is Peshawar.
You can go by car or by the famous steam train; as a matter
of fact you can choose to go up by train and come down by
minibus. I suggest you to go by train because to arrange
your own trip is very difficult and you should get
permissions to travel in the tribal areas (not granted!)
    first.
The trains are leaving on weekends. no way you can go to
the railway station and buy a ticket 'cos the service is
run by a travel agent who took some years ago the
concession from Pakistan Railway Authorites. For departures
schedule (it's not every weekend), prices and documentation
you can contact them at sehrai@psh.brain.net.pk
Having said that, there are many other beautiful places
where you can go like the Northern Areas or, if you want to
stay close to your border post, Kaghan valley and Swat
valley. It depends how you will travel.
Lahore is not to miss although already very hot.
    Enjoy yourself

If you're in Pakistan then here's what to do.
Go up the KArakoram Highway (KKH) from Islamabad to Gilgit,
the Hunza Valley and at 4930metres, the Khunjerab pass
border point of Pakistan and China is the Highest road
    border in the world
I went there last year and loved it. e-mail me if you want
    to know more
