tell us where was the best sunset you have seen.

ps shutup members take note, my opst is the most obvious way
to improve the site. shamefully, you guys chose impostering
and flaming instead.
pps i am an old-timer and i do not need people to represent
me. nice patronage but no thank you.

Off the pacific coast on a mountain as the sun set over the
    ocean to the west

I will always remember the sunset in Aswan, whilst sitting on the terrace of the Old Cataract Hotel, sipping a very expensive G&T. It struck me that people had been looking at a similar scene for 1000's of years.
    ~
I also like those sunsets where the sun is a big round orange ball, and it literally shimmers from it's own heat. I can't remember where I saw it but I was very much like what you would see in the movie Dune, or another of those outter space futuristic films.

The moon rose over the ocean as the sun set behind the
mountains, almost concurrently.. that was absolutely
    amazing.

Where are you from? I have always thought that your flaming
was almost to the limit but not excessively annoying.

call but Net Surfer - I think I agree with you expect on a
felucca drinking a few warm Stella's sailing down the Nile -
it's raining in Sydney - I know where I'd rather be

where I am from. But it doesn't matter. I protect my anonymity and privacy like a precious jewel. No offence intended.
    ~
But I try to be a bit funny. I have a stressful and demanding job so this is an opportunity for me to let off a bit of steam during quiet periods. I actually love to talk about my travels but there is not much opportunity for it around here these days, and I can't be bothered half the time to start a thread myself.

I am interested to know what you mean by 'your flaming was almost to the limit'. It's just a cruious term and obviously any limit is a personal thing but please explain.

I could see that you spammed and flamed a bit but you did
not do it excessively to wreck or take over the site.

I think you would walk away from ttyc and look at yourself
in the mirror and wonder how immature you can be online,
fighting with some REFISOOL. But you don't overstep the
line(not my line, an imaginary one) so that is good.

Had that Gin and Tonic too- also indulged in the restaurant
'1902 Club'?? Expensive, but a really good meal.
Best sunset would have to be either Key West or in the
    outback over in WA, Australia.

    Most beautiful sunset Bagan, Burma.

  11. Well, I am sure my shennannigans seem immature Added by: Net Surfer
[Timestamp: Mon 24 May, 14:07 Tasmanian Standard Time]

so I can live with that. And you are correct. See, the thing is that I know myself and I am happy with what and who I am, and really that is all that matters. I don't feel the need to prove myself to people on this site so I feel free to muck around every now and then. But just for the record, the REFISOOL thing is a joke for me as well - a bit like an ongoing comedy. I have to say it is a lot nicer than the crap from this weekend just gone by, immature that it is.

  12. Actually, right near home Added by: equus back to sunsets
[Timestamp: Mon 24 May, 19:55 Tasmanian Standard Time]

It was quite astounding, the sun was behind the clouds and
the whole western sky was lit up with a pink glow. The
edges of the clouds were literally flaming (in the non-ttyc
    sense!)

  13. Key West... Added by: Mad Potter
[Timestamp: Mon 24 May, 20:44 Tasmanian Standard Time]

Sitting in my kayak and watching the sail boats sail off into the huge setting sun. The sun going down over Lake Erie is pretty great too. I also quite moved watching it go down from the beach on the North Sea.

I was driving west on the highway---the local radio stations were telling people to go out and see the incredible sunset. Multicolored clouds interspersed with brillinat red sun rays as sacattered storms were developing on the horizon.

  17. Freya, and... Added by: Karlo
[Timestamp: Tue 25 May, 5:12 Tasmanian Standard Time]

Freya, I'm assuming you were on top of the Temple of Wisdom
looking out over the Irrawady, and seeing the strings of
pagodas on the distant ridges catch the last flames of
sunset while the dusty air turned into textured rose and
    faded. Timeless.
    -
I also vote for sunset from the Golo Music Pension in
Labuhanbajo, Flores, and from my nearest mountaintop when
the summer sun finally sets near midnight, and the
crystal-clear never-been-breathed air washes in from the
vast and empty North Pacific with cedar on its breath.

Ooooo. If I had to pick ONE it would have to be in Negril, Jamaica about 15 years ago (before it became so commercialized with those cheesy cliffdiver/hustlers).

Mine would have to be in Pokhara, Nepal; the setting sun
relfected pink off "Fishtail" mountain as my friend played
sitar on a hotel roof (how can you go wrong with a sunset
and a sitar?). It felt so magical that I never wanted to
forget that feeling...mmm, feels great remembering. :)

[Timestamp: Tue 25 May, 20:50 Tasmanian Standard Time]

From the top of the Haleakala volcano on Maui. It looked like sunset that you would see from an aircraft in flight, except that you're actually "in" the sunset. It was quite amazing (and freezing cold).
