I'm planning on taking a trip to this interesting little
isand.
The more I read about it the more interested I am of going
there. I was wondering if anyone here has any experiences
of traveling there and what can I expect.
I'm posting here cause I couldn't figure out wether to post
it in the Africa forum or the west europe forum.
Any sort of response appreciated.
Cheers

why don't you ask your onelist or ShutUp friends?
THIS IS NOT THE PLACE FOR TRAVEL POSTS. NOT NOW AT LEAST.
WHY DON'T YOU READ A BIT BEFORE ASKING US ABOUT MALTA
that posts during the UK time slot (Cloutty) once told us he
did a stint working there in an hotel.
Perhaps you didn't have fond memories of the place.
Go to Thorn Tree Western Europe. we are experiencing a
serious bitch fight at the moment and don't need this crap
spamming us up.
ALSO READ A GUIDEBOOK BEFORE YOU ASK A DUMB QUESTION. WHO
ON EARTH WOULD THINK MALTA A PART OF AFRICA. IT'S IN
EUROPE! GO THERE AND LEAVE US BE.
I told you England would capitulate
I hope Falcon has pissed off.
a failure to communicate here. get my drift, sister?
I've read a fair bit about Malta...but if you examined the
map on this site it would be hard to tell if it should be
included in Africa or Europe. Malta is actually closer to
the equator than Tunis but is close to Sicily. In Malta
they speak a sort of Arabic with many Latin words thrown in.
I was only after first hand experiences....I have read a
European guids about Malta but it's just the usual stuff.
to Upset...I don't know what you're talking about.
to Cloutty...obviously not but a kindergarden I didn't
think it was either. I have read about Malta a fair bit as
I said. If you didn't have anything to add why bother. Do
you think you are clever?
Anyway I will come back to check in case someone offers a
response of substance.
Why don't you just post it in Africa and Western Europe?
While Auckland is closer to Sydney than Perth it is not
part of Australia. And while the residents of the Republic
of Ireland are Irish as are their Northern counterparts
they are not part of the U.K. The world is full of
mysteries and yet Malta is part of Europe. Idiot.
belonged to Peter Lorre. But I took it away from him and
found the jewels tucked inside.
Please explain how Malta is a part of Europe if geographic
"mysteries" happen. On what basis are you basing your
argument. History? Malta's application to the EU is a
recent thing. It's push to become europeanized is an
influence of recent economic neccessity not for any
"Identity" reasons...so please explain your
argument...um...if you don't mind.
Peace
It is a well-known fact that LP maps are inaccurate. Don't believe everything you see. Malta is part of Europe as far as I know, but then I've never been there, and I'm sure someone will quickly correct me if I am wrong.
Arghhhh....what is it with you people...evryone thinks
Malta is part of europe but nobody is offering a reason why?
Nowhere have I read that the Maltese Govt or anyone else
saying that Malta is a part of Europe.
And I fail to see the reason for your vague post Net
surfer. Do you always do this?
Peace
I am not angry please believe me.

when I'm not sure what I'm talking about. An old friend was
Maltese and she affiliated with Europe, but then I suppose
not all Maltese do. That is the basis of my opinion. Take
it for what it's really worth but I don't think it really
matters does it?
Let's run through a little history.
The Knights Templar pretty much ran the joint as their
personal fiefdom for several centuries. Considering those
boys were failed Crusaders that puts a certain Eurocentric
spin on things. Then along comes the British Empire to tie
them again to 'Europe'. I'm not conversant with Malta's
history following WWII, but they were Europanized for
centuries up to that point in time.
It's been a very popular island for millenia. I doubt one
could really nail down the (racial) identity of the
inhabitants. African(?) Euro(?) Probably a pointless
question in the end.
Malta is in the Eurovision song contest but then again so
is Israel!
You mean Israel isnt part of Europe? I'm demolished!
The Knights of St John of Jerusalem were given Malta as a
base when they lost Rhodes to Soulemon the Great (turks)
around 1550. The Knights Hospitallers were origionally
medics to help the refugees when they were based in
Jerusalem.
Before that Malta was occupied by countless power nations
of the time...Carthags, Romans, Arabs...etc etc.
You're right it's not important wether it's africa or
europe, but my initial question was if anyone has been
there and is it worth going.
That's all I asked....I didn't ask to be
ridiculed...totally unneccessary and uncalled for.
Thanks anyway
clear turquoise seas and green hills and sun and quaint old
churches to wander around and friendly smiles and music and
legend and romance ...
i don't know much about the history of malta but it
certainly has a more mediterranean feel than african. the
pace of life is slow, old men sit in the shade of their
doorways in the late afternoon when the sun is hot, the
streets are narrow and lined with colourful doorways ...
legend has it that nearby gozo (even more beautiful than
malta - a must if you go!) is the island of calypso or
ogygia as in the odyssey where ulysses was shipwrecked ...
the beautiful queen calypso kept him there for seven years
as her lover until jove forced her to let him go and sadly
she did so ... and watched him sail away ...
an enchanting romantic peaceful wonderful place that i'll
never never forget ...
Travel to St Pauls bay for a day, look at the largest dome
outside Rome.
Travel Straight street Valletta on foot, cocktails at Dirty
Dicks and dine at The Lantern-(CinC meds favorite watering
hole, the used to have tin glasses there!
Gozo is so old that you will think that you are a cave man
when you get back.
There used to be a bar called "the City Gem" in Valletta
that had more than three hundered different whiskys!
