I'm set to leave May 13 for an overland trip from Kathmandu
to Lhasa. I expect to fly back to KTM, then go overland to
Delhi via Varanasi. All this has become tentative in the
last few days though, in the wake of the Chinese Embassy
bombing in Belgrade. The US State Department has issued a
travel warning advising Americans not to go to China now.
Things may not work out. Only time will tell. If I'm able
to make the trip, I should have a great story to tell after
my mid-June return. I'd love to contribute to your
publication. (I have an M.A. in journalism, for what that's
worth.)
And by the way, how much do you pay?!?!
Be very wary of come-ons that use b.s. phrases like
"accredited travel writer". What in the world is that
supposed to mean, anyway? What a load...
