I am planning on cycling from Guangzhou to Ho Chi Minh City
in July and August and was hoping someone might be able to
shed some light on a couple of things....
1. the weather in Southern China in July??? I live in HKG -
is it anywhere near as wet as it gets here?
2. what places are worth seeing between Guilin and Kunming?
3. the weather throughout Vietnam in late July and August?
Is it to wet to cycle through?
4. what kind of bike would you recommend taking...mountain
or hybrid?
Thanks heaps.

    hi amy,
two years ago i've spent a couple of weeks in south china.

  2. Vietnam visit Added by: Past Visitor

In Vietnam lock you bike, guard your kit, and don't
beleive/trust anyone. Sounds a bit jaded - one long months
experience of backpacking thru Vietnam was enough!!
Have a good time - but watch out

  3. A bit of help Added by: Kieran

The weather in Southern China will be pretty much the samne
as HKG, but a bit less humid, and bit less wet.
Sights around Guillin - get out a.s.a.pis its bloody
expensive. I'd recommnend Yangshou. It may be full of
dodgy pseudo hippy travellers but the scenery is great, the
food good, hotesl cheap and there are loads of places to
day trip to. As a hgelpful hint, if you take the train to
Kunming, or anywhere along that route, CITS in Yangshou is
the bast place to buy a ticket (esp hard sleeper). Don't
bother CITS or the station in Guillin.
    Hope this helps
