I'm planning an overland trip from Australia to South
Africa via asia and the middle east next year. Anyone had
experience trying to import their own bike or car into
China or Tibet??? I've heard it's a nightmare or
impossible, but I'd love to avoid having to fly the bike
from Bankok to Delhi, and I'd love to see south China/Tibet.

Sorry to say I think you've got no chance. Importing a motorbike into China, and being able to ride it, probaly requires you to have resident status. Getting one into Tibet probably involves joining the Chinese Army and getting posted up there.

I'm just completing the first leg (Montreal to Santiago) of
a round-the-world motorbike trip. Next month I'm freighting
to Australia and from there up to Singapore for the ride
back to the UK. I've just read it is now possible to bike
in China ($60 a day), does anyone know if it is possible to
    ride across Burma into India?
