I'm planning on visiting Iran this summer. Afterwards, I'd
like to head into Central Asia by way of Mashad, Iran. I'd
prefer to hook up with a tour. Anyone have any info on
companies that "do" Uzbekistan? If so, please let me know.
Cheers!

I plan to do something similar this summer, and I also
thought of joining an organised group. I'm just not sure
whether I should do Usbekistan and Iran at once, maybe one
is big enough.
I can recommend a british travel company, Exodus (see
www.exodustravels.co.uk). They do offer tours in
Usbekistan and the Pamir mountains. There are some other
ones I know, but they're german (as myself). If you don't
have a problem with the language, try Djoser for Iran
(really inexpensive! - I just don't know their WWW address
at the moment).
Greetings

I travelled with Exodus last year to Iran and had a
marvelous time. Exodus lists a Central Asia tour on their
brochure. This summer I will be going on the Explore trip
to Uzbekistan and the Karakoram Hightway--this particular
tour company also has a tour to Iran.
I just got done travelling through india and nepal and was
wondering if anybody has anyinformation on getting a visa
in is it particularly hard. If any body got any info give
me a write. Also if you need any info on india just ask. Joe
You may want to consider MIR Corporation, which is Seattle-based. We did their 16-day Silk Road Odyssey tour of Uzbekistan two years ago and it was excellent, really comprehensive with a lot of people contact. I understand they have a new tour that includes Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, and Iran. They have a website: http://www.mircorp.com/, and their email is mir@igc.org.
