I am planning to head into Tibet in July via Cheng Du (?) in China - was wondering if anyone had some
advice - I would like to travel overland if possible - Any info on the CHina- Tibet border
crossing ie./weather/where to stay/how easy it is to purchase warm weather gear in
China/Tibet...ANYTHING.. would be appreciated. I will be heading into Nepal from there if all goes to plan
(around August) to trek. Not to sure about the weather in the area - guidebooks are vague about this
time of year...hot/cold wet???
thanks C

hi, best bet to go overland is Goldmund bus. I will take
that route myself once i finish visiting former students and
exploring Xinjiang -- I will share any info if you will -- i
also suggest you look into the Postcards section of this
service, as it has much pertinent info from trekkers --
personnally i plan to circle Mt. Kailash, then go towards
Rongbuk temple and then to try finding way into Yalu region
to sniff around thaat DEEP VALLEY i have heard bit of info
about -- later gator, rd

Hi,
I am planning to go from Xinjing to Northern Tibet and cross
the border to Nepal, starting on July.
I've heard that it may be less broder control from this way
than Cheng Du. However, the travelling is far less than the
Cheng Du route.
