A couple of days ago, I posted a question about a good place
in Havana to meet my sister, thank you expeditor, Hugo and
Diago for your answers! Now it turns out that she will
first sail to Santiago de Cuba and then a week later to
Havana. I would like to meet up with my sister in Santiago
so now I wonder if anyone knows which would be the best way
to get there, how much it would cost and also; do you know
any cheap hotels?
Thank you!

  1. Cheap and comfortable... Added by: Wayfarer

Stay at the small Rex Hotel in Santiago. I think a flight
from Havana to Santiago is about USD$70 or so, but if you
have the time, you can always take the train and get off
along the way. That's how I returned from Santiago to
    Havana.

But if your sister is going to get to Baracoa, that's one
place you shouldn't miss, and it would be real easy to find
    her there.

  2. why pay more to get less? Added by: cave man

The train is the Best way in term of cost, but I prefer the
bus. Hotel is in every city but why would you want to
experience Cuba by spoon fed? Ask ANYONE a casa particular
and they can direct you to a legal private house for rent
for $15. You can spend your $ on a less formal environment
knowing you didn't overpay to finance Fidel's jail.
BTW, the quality of CP is in general excellent. Santiago is
a beautiful city and you'll enjoy it
