Hi,
I am planning a trip to the Caribbean in the fall and
wanted to island hop. I've heard that LIAT has island
passes but I don not know any of the conditions. I anyone
has heard about this service or used it, I would greately
appreceiate your feedback/thoughts. Thanks in advance.

  1. Liat & Island Hopping Added by: Chris

We were just in Grenada and met a guy who had the island
hopper ticket with Liat. He said it was sometimes hard to
get flights on the days you wanted and that there were
plenty of other small airlines that could have carried him
withhout having to wait for Liat. He recommended just
winging it, even if it may cost a bit more, it is worth it
for the freedom. Have fun hopping. Chris

I have been in the Carib a couple of times this winter and
have flown Liat. They are usually Dash 8 aircraft - some of
the competition (and there are lots of puddle hoppers
depending on your routing) uses Twin Otters.
I am in Canada; buying advance tickets here is not worth the
hassle - the Liat people in Sint Maarten may/may not honour
those tickets - depending on their mood.
There are frequently seat sales - I'd say wing it and
prepared to be flexible in the Caribbean way (read "wait in
an airport til the next flight") . Have fun!

I island hopped in the Carib recently and was fortunate LIAT
only lost my luggage once - other guys weren't so lucky. One
fellow had a flight cancelled by LIAT half way through his
pass, they also cancelled all his remaining flights and it
wasn't till he made a real nuisance of his self they
    corrected their mistake.
Fly BWIA, I have only heard good things about them from my
    fellow travellers.
