We're getting married in Napa Valley, CA and are looking
for a place to spend the next two weeks...romantic,
adventure opportunities (kayaking, snorkeling, hiking...),
tropical, not too expensive, comfortable, beatiful...any
suggestions?

St. John is called the jewel of the caribbean. it's in the
U.S.V.I. and there are tons of web sites about it with
private homes to rent to nice campgrounds to stay in. All
water sports available all over the island.

Hi! I would recommend St. Kitts. It has all the features you mentioned and is very romantic. There are restaurants in all price ranges although there is only one fastfood restaurant on the island - a Kentucky Fried Chicken. I can immediately think of several places where dinner is US $10 per person or less. It is evey bit as nice as the U.S. Virgin Islands with good water, good phone service, friendly people and a British touch. I would definitely recommend it over St. Thomas and personally also liked it better than St. Croix. Until about 15 years ago it was one of the British Virgin Islands.
The topography ranges from lower mountains on the South Peninsula where all the undeveloped beaches are (similar appearance to southern California) to beautiful rainforested peaks ranging up to nearly 4,000 feet on the north end of the island. Accomodations range from very nice hotels on or near the beach in Frigate Bay to restored Plantation Great Houses located on the north end.
We stay at the Timothy Beach Resort in Frigate Bay. There are watersports available adjacent and it is the only hotel directly on the Caribbean. The sunset views from all but the mountain view rooms are gorgeous. Kayaking and hiking trips including one to the volcano can be arranged. There is snorkeling directly out from the hotel and a number of other good spots directly offshore can be found elsewhere. There is also a great Catamaran trip with excellent snorkeling and a picnic included on the neighboring island of Nevis. We try to go to other islands too, but St. Kitts remains a favorite.
Please feel free to e-mail me if you have any questions.

Hi! I noticed that part of the last post was lost and that was the part about the lush green mountainous area to the north with peaks reaching to nearly 4000 feet. There is hiking including the volcano hike and another fascinating hike is to the Bloody Canyon. Brimstone Hill Fortress, "the Gibralter of the Caribbean", is very impressive and took over 100 years to build. There are also a number of beautiful restored plantation great houses. However, the most beautiful part of the island is its natural beauty, friendly people and the fact that it is not overrun by tourism.
