My wife & I were just married and are going to Belize in December for our honeymoon. While staying on Ambergris Caye we wish to stay in the very best hotel available.
Any comments? Thanks.

Three years ago we went there and stayed at the Victoria
House, which we felt was the best of the places we saw on
the island. We went between Christmas and New Year and it
was expensive, especially as we were there between Xmas and
New Years. The rooms were nice the meals servered at the
Victoria House were outstanding, which was important unless
you want to try your luck in San Pedro. Victoria House does
have bikes that you can use to get into Sa Pedro about 1-2
miles away, which beats walking. One of the friendly staff
helped us find a bed and breakfast in Belieze City on
Barracks St. which served their own special brand of coffee
which beat anything we had ever had before. Think that
Victoria House has a number in New Orleans where you can
get info. Be sure to go snorkeling at Ho Chan,

If this appears twice its due to computer inexperience. We
were there three years ago over Xmas and stayed at the
Victoria House. Very nice accomodationa and very good food.
Is expensive. Located on end of island about 1-2 miles from
San Pedro, town acessable by using their bikes or walking,
which makes you appreciate quality of their food.
Snorkeling etc. can be arranged from their location. We
made arrangements thru an office or agent they had in New
Orleans (might be an 800 number) who if you can find them,
can give you more info. When we left they steered us to a
bed and breakfast in Belieze City on Barracks Rd. that had
their own special coffee that was the best we ever tasted.
    Hope this helps

    Hi ace
    Contratulations to you both!
I too have been to Victoria House '95.
    -
    Great beachfront location.
The property then consisted of detatched bungalows located
throughout the grounds & there was also a huge villa style
house which was the ultimate in luxury!
    Excellent staff, service, food.
All diving/snorkelling trips can be arranged by the hotel -
you can even have a mini-lesson off the end of their
private pier if you're a beginner.
You are free to borrow the hotels bicycles or you can hire
one of their golf carts to get around in.
When you know which flight you'll be taking, just let the
hotel know & they'll send a minibus to collect you. Also,
if you want to go into town for dinner they'll usually
drive you down & even pick you up again if you want.
If you should want a particular type of fish for lunch,
just tell the hotel in the morning & they will catch it for
    you.
    -
Can't stress enough how great this place is!
( Both Harrison Ford and Madonna have stayed there )
We really did not want to leave & actually extended our stay
    -
I'm pretty sure that I have some pamphlets around
somewhere, so if you want I can mail some to you.
    Cheers, from London
