    Hi there:
Youth hostells in C.A. like a chain or franchise I don┤t think they have.. But there┤s a lot of cheap hotels for backpackers. I┤ve stayed in many good cheap places in Guatemala. But in my personal opinion, the best place I stayed is Dos Lunas Guest House in Guatemala city. believe it or not, clean and nice rooms, hot shower, the best I had during my trip and the service...the service is just great. I talked for hours with the owner. and I had fun with the other guests. they charge US$10.00 per person and also you get free shuttle from or to the airport and breakfast.
if you go there ask Lorena (the owner) for a gallo, it┤s a guatemalan beer. she will show you how to order a gallo next time.. and ask her for a "zona viva" tour.
    I just love this place...
    have fun !

...about hostals, but I've encountered a few youth
hostiles here and there. But not many. Most people are
    pretty friendly. Backpackers too.
